St. John Properties and Somerset Construction said Monday they plan to start construction this fall on a new, four-story office building at Annapolis Junction Town Center.
The 100,000-square-foot project is part of a $180 million transit-oriented development near the Savage MARC station, planned to include more than 400 apartments, a 150-room hotel and about 17,450-square-feet of retail. A new 700-space parking garage was completed recently.
St. John Properties, which acquired the office component of the project from Corporate Office Properties Trust, said it plans to build without a committed tenant. The 10170 Junction Drive project is expected to cost about $9 million and be completed in fall of 2016.
“We consider Annapolis Junction Town Center to be a tremendous opportunity for our company, as Transit-Oriented Developments are rapidly emerging as attractive choices for organizations that value proximity to rail transportation systems,” said Richard Williamson, the firm’s senior vice president for leasing, in a statement.
Southern Management Corp. and Somerset Construction Co. are developing the residential and retail portions of the development and are seeking a partner for the hospitality component, according to the release.
